The Office of Unified Communications (OUC) is responsible for handling all 1.8 million 911 calls that occur in the District of Columbia annually. OUC consolidates the emergency 911 and non-emergency 311 call activities from the Metropolitan Police Department, Fire and Emergency Medical Services and customer service operations. NAGE represents the 911 and 311 call takers, radio technicians and dispatchers employed by the Office of Unified Communications.
